Job role: Student Trustee
Location: Royal Holloway Students’ Union
The role
This role is a voluntary Student Trustee position with Royal Holloway Students’ Union (RHSU), running from July 2026 to June 2027.
As a Trustee, you would help shape the strategic direction of the Union, ensuring it continues to improve student life.
The position offers valuable experience at board level, giving you the opportunity to contribute to high-level decision-making, develop professional skills, and build your network while gaining insight into how a medium-sized charity operates.
The time commitment is manageable but important. You would attend four board meetings per year, join one subcommittee, and prepare in advance by reading meeting papers. There is also a compulsory induction session on 18 June 2026.
Alongside the main board, you would contribute to either the People and Culture Committee, which focuses on HR, equality, and organisational culture, or the Finance and Risk Committee, which oversees budgeting, audits, and risk management.
RHSU is looking for students who are passionate about its mission, aware of student issues, and able to think critically and challenge ideas constructively. You must be a Royal Holloway student during the 2026–27 academic year and meet standard legal requirements for trustees, including being over 18 and not disqualified from holding such a role.
